With a brand awareness of 99%, this brand needs no introduction: Ritter Sport is one of the bona fide classics of chocolate manufacturing. Founded in Stuttgart by Clara and Alfred Eugen Ritter in 1912, today the family company is more famous than ever. “Quality chocolate, squared,” reads the catchy slogan. But the idea for the unique shape came to Clara Ritter back in 1932: “Let’s make a chocolate bar that fits in every jacket pocket without breaking.” And there it was: Ritter Sport Chocolate. Cocoa from a good home

This vegan chocolate alternative sees Ritter Sport continue on its trajectory of sustainability. Since 2018 the company has been sourcing exclusively sustainable cocoa certified in line with the Rainforest Alliance Cocoa and Fairtrade Cocoa Programme standards. And 2022 saw the addition of a new milestone: traceability back to the producer organisation as a new minimum requirement for sustainable cocoa.

Certified climate-neutral

Ritter Sport has been certified climate-neutral since 2020, among other things, by offsetting with Gold Standard climate certificates. Ritter Sport has set itself a binding time limit for reaching full climate neutrality : the company, including all of its partners and all aspects of its supply chain, is to be fully climate neutral by 2025. We’ll keep our fingers crossed and, until then, enjoy the vegan, chocolatey fruits of this endeavour.
